I really love her, the band, and this video. but i think there is something to be said about the fact that there is unrecognized/unspoken privilege here. Who actually has the ability to “be themselves” and not be killed? Noxolo Nogwaza didn’t.
One time I was telling someone about Scissor Sisters, like I always do. And they were trying to figure out if they had heard of them so I showed the person a picture of the band. They pointed out how all the band members were really attractive. It wasnt until then that I realized that was true. Before that, I had never though about how they looked.
